Some worshippers of the Word in Action Church in Bortiarnor, Accra have been trapped after their three-storey church building under construction collapsed on them Tuesday morning.
Some reports say the victims were having church service when the building came down.
Other accounts however claimed that, the victims were among construction workers who were working on an extension project around the facility.
One netizen disclosed what he thinks could have triggered the temple to fall saying ‘Anybody who stays in the area knew it was a matter of time. The building was constructed so quick and the roof always leaked heavy what it rains’.
Seven people have reportedly been rescued from the rubble but they are in critical condition.
The Word in Action Church issued a press statement on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 indicating they ‘are working closely with local authorities and emergency services to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to address the situation and provide the necessary support to those in need’.
