The chairperson of the Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa will officially declare the winner of the 2024 presidential election in the next few hours.
The EC has announced that declaration of the presidential results will be done at 4.30pm on Monday, December, 2024 by Jean Mensa, the Returning Officer.
Certified results projected by the media show that John Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is leading Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and presidential candidate of the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) with close to 2 million votes, an unprecedented margin ever recorded in the country’s election since 1996.
The NDC has captured two-thirds of the parliamentary seats, most of them in the strongholds of the incumbent party.
