Nunuk Nuraini, the woman who created the various flavours of the Indomie instant noodle brand has died at the age of 59.
She passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
Nurlita Novi Arlaida, the head of Indofood’s Public Relations confirmed Nuraini’s death in a statement to local newspaper, Kompas but did not reveal the cause of her death.
Food lovers have paid a glowing tribute to the recipe developer.
Kasatintin.com gathers Nuraini worked as Flavour Development Manager at Indofood, Indonesia for nearly 30 years where she produced the hugely popular ‘mi goreng’ and other flavours for the brand.
‘Indomie’ has become almost synonymous with every type of instant noodles sold on the market.
Many have grown up eating the popular brand. Indomie is the noodle of choice in Nigeria and Ghana despite the existence of numerous brands on the market.
Indomie instant noodle was first exported from Indonesia to Nigeria in 1988 and by 1995, Indofood company opened its first production factory in the West African nation.
Presently, the company operates three factories in Nigeria and produces at least eight million packets of noodles per day to meet the high demand.
In Ghana, it is common for men to use just a plate of Indomie recipe to woo young girls.
A recent study conducted by Star Ghana Foundation found young girls’ love for indomie and mobile money (MoMo) to be the root cause of teenage pregnancy in the country.
