The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has conferred the title ‘Mr. Democrat’ on President Nana Akufo-Addo in recognition of his remarkable dedication to democratic values.
ECOWAS Chairman and President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu bestowed the prestigious title on him saying Akufo-Addo is a model and must be commended for promoting democracy in the Sub-region, and also for ensuring a smooth transition of power to President-elect John Mahama.
The outgoing president of Ghana received standing ovation at the 66th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Heads of State and Government Summit in Abuja following the announcement.
