Social media sensation and member of #FixTheCountry campaign, Efia Odo has been granted self-recognizance bail following her arrest on Friday.
Efia Odo together with other 14 conveners of the #FixTheCountry campaign were arrested by the police at the premises of the Accra High Court, where they had gathered to hear the court’s ruling on a police injunction seeking to stop the group from embarking on a street protest.
The Accra Region Police interrogated them for close to three hours on why they allegedly assembled at the court, according to reports Kasatintin.com has followed on local media.
But the suspect were granted bail after being held in police custody for 3 hours.
Efia Odo insist they were not protesting which warranted their unlawful arrest on Friday.
Explaining the incident to JoyNews she said, ‘the judge called for a recess, and I was taking pictures with some of the conveners who had come there to show their support. Then, all of a sudden, the police comes in with their guns as if we are criminals and aggressively took us in’.
‘They never told us the reason for the arrest. They told us to write our statement and I compiled’, she added.
The 12 are expected to report to the police on Monday for further investigations.
