Ace Ghanaian broadcaster, Gifty Anti has broken her silence after years of speculations of she being the sidechick of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
President Kufuor served as the President of the Republic of Ghana from 7 January 2001 to 7 January 2009.
Rumour was rife that Gifty Anti, then a staff of Ghana Television (GTV) was having a secret affair with the sitting president, Kufuor.
It was said that their romantic relationship was deep to the extent Gifty Anti accompanied the president on almost every official trip.
She even had a child with Kufuor, gossip mill added, and further suggested that, First Lady Mrs Theresa Kufuor got wind of the supposed relationship and subsequently gave Gifty Anti a stern warning to stay off her husband.
Commenting on the matter for the first time, Gifty Anti said the rumours were wicked lies designed to tarnish her image and of the sitting president at the time.
In 2013, she disclosed in an interview on Joy FM that though she was close to the former president, they never dated.
She stated ‘I have been close to the family. I’ve been close to him, he treats me like his friend, his daughter’ and they maintained the relationship at that level.
Gifty Anti clarified that contrary to wild accusations she had a frosty relationship with Mr. Kufuor’s wife, ‘she [Theresa] is like a mother [to her]’.
According to the StandPoint host, Theresa Kufuor paid her a surprise visit when she was celebating her 40th birthday with some orphans from the Village of Hope at the Afrikiko Gardens in 2010.
Gifty revealed that Mrs Kufuor ‘cut the cake with the children and they were so excited. That is how much that woman has shown me love’.
Gifty Anti and Nana Ansah Kwao of Joy FM had a royal wedding on Thursday, October 15, 2015. Ex-president Kufuor was among the high profiled personalities who witnessed the ceremony.
Gifty Anti has decided not to comment on the alleged sexual engagement with ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor again.
In an interview on HITZ FM she said:
‘I’m tired of answering questions with regards to whether or not Prez Kuffour had something to do with me. I’ve advised myself never to answer questions like that.
‘The man has really worked hard, let’s allow the man to have his own peace. I’m now married to the swagalious and a handsome husband who is a chief. I’m not answering those questions again. I’m happily married now and that’s it’.
Indeed, Ghana’s love gossiping too much. For once, let’s allow Gifty Anti to enjoy her marriage!
