Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II on Friday appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo to support them in the ongoing quest to have name ‘Greater Accra Region’ changed to Ga-Adangbe Region.
He made this call when President Akufo-Addo visited him as part of his two day tour of the Greater Accra Region.
According to the Ga Mantse, the change of name seeks ‘to advance the unification and consolidation of Ga-Adangbe and increase the teaching of the Ga language in schools in the region’, JoyNews report sighted by Kasatintin.com said.
The Ga Mantse also lobbied President Akufo-Addo to ensure that teachers who undergo training in the Ga-Adangbe language at the various colleges of education are posted to Greater Accra area.
The traditional leaders obviously have a huge task ahead of them.
We can only wish them the best of luck at this stage of their struggle for a new name for Greater Accra.
