Tanzania President John Magufuli has said his government has no intention to shut down places of worship over the coronavirus pandemic.
President Magufuli stated on Sunday that churches and mosques are the only places where true healing can be found.
He said ‘These Holy places are where God is. My fellow Tanzanians, let us not be afraid of going to praise Him’.
Mr Magufuli labelled COVID-19 as ‘Satanic virus’ but said the virus cannot survive while in the ‘body of Christ’.
He stated during a well-attended church service in Tanzania that:
‘Corona cannot survive in the body of Christ, it will burn. That is exactly why I did not panic while taking the Holy communion’.
Magufuli has however faced social media criticism for misleading people to assemble in churches and mosques, which conspicuously puts them at a higher risk of contracting and spreading the deadly coronavirus.
On the contrary, the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has banned all social gatherings including funerals, weddings and religious activities for the next 4 weeks as a measure to control COVID-19.
Churches across the country remained close in the first Sunday after the presidential order.
Some pastors who cannot survive the ban have advertised and urged their members to send their offertory and tithes through mobile money.
The likes Angel Obinim and Prophet 1 were sighted on social media claiming they have a cure for coronavirus.
Russia is fighting the pandemic head-on. Government asked everybody to stay at home in this critical time.
Kasatintin.com reported in a previous post that ‘Russian leader Vladimir Putin has released more than 500 tigers and lions onto the streets of Russia to force people to stay at home in a bid to control the spread of Coronavirus in the country.’
