The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has taken a firm stance on its dress code policy, sending several students home for violating the institution’s guidelines on appropriate attire.
The enforcement, starting July 1,2025 is being carried out by a special task force deployed on campus.
Viral videos show some UPSA students being harassed by the task force.
‘I was sacked for wearing leather slippers, which nearly made me miss my assessment’, a student claimed in one social media footage.
Students are expected to dress formally for lectures, as outlined in the university’s Student Handbook.
A leaked document purported to be coming from the UPSA Management had previously advised students on the importance of adhering to the dress code policy.
Some students have expressed frustration, feeling that the enforcement is inconsistent and targeted. However, others are backing the university’s stance on professionalism.
