Charles Nii Armah, also known in the Ghanaian music and entertainment industry as Shatta Wale, has been enskinned ” Dancehall King” by the Chief of Tamale.
Chief of Tamale, Nyeb-Dakpema Fusieni Bawa, is reported to have officially conferred the title ”Dancehall Naa” (Dancehall King) on the controversial singer at a ceremony in Tamale on Friday (June 7, 2019).
I bet you ‘somebody’ somewhere, should I say fans of Bhimnation are by now feeling jealous about this fete and thinking ”Aha, this is one of those 2 by 4 and kululu honours put forth to increase the popularity of Shatta Wale”.

But this piece of news on Shatta Wale is real, and not just ‘mouth talk’. Hundreds of fans and well-wishers trooped to the Dakpema Palace in Tamale for the ceremony held on Friday.
Kasatintin.com has sighted a video in which the controversial Dancehall act wore an adorable smock and sat on a skin.
In the video, Shatta Wale is seen surrounded by some elders of the Tamale palace. He chewed some kola nut in line with Tamale Chieftancy traditions. I see Shatta Wale to be a ”bushman”. Doesn’t he know that it is unacceptable for a chief to wear a pair of socks whiles sitting on a skin? Honestly, I feel so sick because of this.

This is the more reason I encourage the government to introduce cultural Studies at all levels of education in the country. The future generation needs to know and appreciate the rich Ghanaian culture.
The “I Know My Level” hitmaker was given kola nut to chew during his installation as “Dancehall Naa”.
Kola nut holds great social significance for many ethnic groups in Ghana and in every aspect of the African tradition. The kola nut is given as a symbol of hospitality, friendship and respect. It is presented to guests at important social events (such as weddings, funerals, and infant naming ceremonies).
‘The kola nut stays longer in the mouths of those who value it’, says an African Proverb. Kola nut is also cherished for its medicinal value.

If Shatta knew it could cure low sperm c0unt and reduce prostate cancer and boost energy levels, I guess he would have chewed the kola with joy, and even requested for more kola nuts when he’s returning to Accra.
We all know that Opana, I mean Shatta Wale missed the Reggae /Dancehall Artiste of the Year award at the recently held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). Stonebwoy, in fact won that envious award.
So for Shatta Wale, the recognition from the Tamale Chief means a lot to him. It was timely and a moment he can perfectly describe as an hour of restoration for his lost glory.
Opana has a “big mouth”. He couldn’t keep the news of his ‘Dancehall King’ title to himself. He shared it on his Instagram page immediately after being honoured:
“Thanks to his eminence the Chief and elders of the palace in Tamale, the people and youth of Tamale for the honor bestowed upon me. I know your prayers and love will fortify this union and open doors for the youth and people in Tamale and the rest of northern people. I am humbled.”
It is not clear at this stage the purpose for which the Tamale Chief gladly conferred the title “Dancehall King” on Shatta Wale.
The Chief(s) have no idea how the action they have taken, is going to deepen the perceived ‘enmity’ between Nima President, Shatta and Bhimnation boss, Stonebwoy.

We do not know the sort of consultations which informed the Tamale Chief to honour Shatta Wale with the ”Dancehall Naa” title. I don’t want to know; it’s too late.
Like it or not, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy control the Ghana music industry today. Each of them have tried several ways to prove their supremacy over the other for years without success.
The unfortunate incident which happened at the VGMA as a result of Stonebwoy being adjudged the Reggae /Dancehall Artiste of the Year attest to the fact that Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are really big players in the Ghana music industry. So this should have guided any decision as far as the “Dancehall Naa” title is concerned.
Following the VGMA confusion, the two top Dancehall musicians have held a wonderful peace conference as part the roadmap to establish a better personal relationship among themselves.
The Shatta-Stone news conference is commendable , thus I expected the Tamale Chief to honour both of them in this respect.
The ‘Dancehall Naa’ title they bestowed on Shatta Wale was unnecessary at this time when both musicians have agreed to resolve the long standing ‘rift’ between them. Frankly speaking, the ‘Dancehall Naa’ title, which is now on the head of Shatta Wale has the tendency not to only heighten the division between the musicians but also among their fans as well. We need to move forward as a people.
