Power FM presenter Oheneba Boamah has been arrested by the Police over insults and threats he issued against President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Service picked up the pro-NDC journalist on Monday, December 14,2020.
Police say ‘the suspect is being held for allegedly insulting and issuing series of threats to the President of the Republic of Ghana and Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a video which he shared on his Facebook page.’
The video is said to have been recorded on December 9, 2020 following the declaration of the 2020 election results.
The opposition NDC has rejected the 2020 presidential election results saying it has been rigged in favour of incumbent President Akufo-Addo.
Oheneba Boamah, the co-host of Power FM ‘Inside Politics’ show has been detained in police custody, pending further action.
According to Police, ‘the suspect, 36 years old has been cautioned on the offences of Offensive Conduct Conducive to Breaches of the Peace and Publication of False News contrary to sections 207 and 208(1) respectively, of the Criminal and Other Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).’
