Former Finance Minister of Ghana,Ken Ofori-Atta has been placed on Interpol’s Red Notice list for allegedly using public office for personal gain.
This comes after the Office of the Special Prosecutor, the country’s anti-corruption agency, declared him a wanted person and also a fugitive from justice over his alleged involvement in multiple corruption cases during his time as Finance Minister in the Nana Akufo-Addo government from 2016 to 2024.
Ofori-Atta is said to be out of the country for medical reasons and has not commented on the allegations.
The Special Prosecutor, Kiss Agyebeng insists that Mr Ofori-Atta should appear in person for questioning on the corruption charges being slapped on him.
A Red Notice is not an arrest warrant but a formal request to police worldwide to detain someone pending extradition, Interpol explained.
