The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a big warning to former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, threatening to declare him as a wanted person again should he fail to appear for questioning by 2nd June, 2025.
The OSP issued the warning after Mr. Ofori-Atta filed a suit to challenge the authority of the office to declare him as a fugitive from justice.
The OSP is investigating Mr. Ofori-Atta over alleged corruption related matters but it removed the latter’s name from its wanted list after he (Ofori-Atta) assured the prosecuting authority that he will cooperate and appear in person at the designated time to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Special Prosecutor explained in a news release that, ‘Mr Ofori-Atta formally requested the OSP to remove his name from the OSP’s list of wanted persons with the assurance that he would make himself available for questioning on a definite date’, emphasizing that his removal from the list was conditional upon his personal attendance at the designated time.
The statement made it clear that Mr Ofori-Atta’s presence is ‘mandatorily required’ on 2nd June 2025. Should he fail to attend, the office will immediately issue an Interpol Red Notice and initiate extradition proceedings in any jurisdiction where he may be located.
