Close to 820 people have been confirmed dead after a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8 struck Central Morocco a few hours ago.
Officials say the earthquake occured at 23:11 local time (22:11GMT) on Friday and more than 600 people have been injured.
The earthquake killed people in the provinces and municipalities of al-Haouz, Marrakesh, Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua and Taroudant which are largely in the remote part of Morocco.
But reports suggest that families are trapped under the rubble of their homes in the city, and parts of the Medina, a UNESCO World heritage Site have also been destroyed by the quake.
This is said to be the strongest earthquake to hit Morocco in 123 years (since 1900).
