President John Mahama has relieved Charles Kraikue of his duties as the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
No reason was given for Kraikue’s dismissal but governance experts say it may be related to restructuring in the country’s public sector being undertaken by the government.
An official statement by the President’s Secretary, Dr. Callistus Mahama directed Kraikue to hand over his responsibilities to Stephen Wilfred Arthur, who will serve as Acting Director-General.
Dr. Mahama conveyed the President’s appreciation for Kraikue’s service to the nation.
The President’s Secretary’s letter dated April 2, 2025 read: ‘I write to formally inform you that the President of the Republic has terminated your appointment as the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, effective immediately.
You are directed to hand over your duties to Stephen Wilfred Arthur, who shall act as the Director-General of the Authority. The President extends his gratitude for your service to the nation’.
