A 34-year-old man has been arrested for sharing fake pornographic images of President Cyril Ramaphosa, Police Minister Bheki Cele and wife on the internet.
He was apprehended on Sunday by members of the Gauteng Crimes Against the State (CATS) team and the Hawks’ Pietermaritzburg-based serious organised crime investigation team.
The suspect is claimed to have superimposed faces of Ramaphosa, Cele and his wife on unknown individuals in the naughty images, and investigation was launched at the beginning of May.
According to police spokesperson, Lt-Col Philani Nkwalase ‘The images were distributed to police officers and members of the public on social media platforms. The 34-year-old suspect was traced and arrested in Azalea, Pietermaritzburg, and his device that was allegedly used as well as sim cards were recovered in his possession.
‘The man is expected to appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Tuesday for allegedly contravening the Cybercrimes Act’, local media, Times Live stated in a report sighted by Kasatintin.com.
