Members of the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) are set to meet the current government to resume negotiations on their poor conditions of service.
The non consideration of their conditions of service compelled the Association to embark on a nationwide strike on November 28,2024 in protest against inadequate salaries and non-availability of essential working resources.
The aforementioned issues have persisted for years without resolution.
The General Secretary of MOWAG, Richard Jordan noted that the Association ‘started negotiating with the previous government, and there has been a change of government. We are trying to sit with the new government to see how we can resolve the pending issue’.
Jordan expects John Mahama-led government to prioritise the welfare of mortuary workers in the country.
He told Citi News in a recent interview sighted by Kasatintin.com that, while a strike remains a possibility, it is not their immediate course of action.
‘We have not exhausted all the avenues, so we do not intend to strike immediately; that is if there will be a need to strike at all’, he said.
