The National Communications Authority (NCA) has shut down all three television stations which allegedly belong to controversial man of God, Reverend Obofour.
The affected channels namely Cash TV, Lion TV and Kiss TV broadcast on satellite free-to-air platform accesible on Multi TV decoder. However, Reverend Obofour’s Sweet TV was not close down.
The three TV stations mostly show prophetic messages and other wacky miracles of the self-styled pastor.
His congregation claim they are healed of all kinds of diseases after applying Reverend Obofour’s anti-witchcraft balm called ‘Abiyifour nkuu’.
Some members also testify having their financial breakthrough just by watching the prophet’s calendar and using any of his spiritual, magical product.
The NCA has also taken off air two TV stations, Thunder TV and Ice TV owned by popular spiritualist and ‘Sika gari’ money doubling ritualist, Nana Agradaa.
The media licensing authority is believed to have taken the steps to ‘sanitize the airwaves’ following the killing of a 10-year-boy at Kasoa by two teenagers for blood money which many attribute to the showing of money doubling contents on some TV stations.
The NCA has embarked on an exercise to shut down 49 TV stations, most of which have specialized in telecasting either lotto shows or religious activities related to money doubling.
It is what it is but the NCA insist that it shut down all three TV stations of Kumasi-based pastor, Reverend Obofour, that of Nana Agradaa and others for operating without valid license contrary to Section 2 (4) of the Electronic Communications Act 775 of 2008, which clearly states that;
‘Except as provided by this Act or any other law not inconsistent with this Act, a person shall not operate a broadcasting system or provide a broadcasting service without a frequency authorisation by the Authority’.
