A latest poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics led by Musa Dankwah suggests that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) no longer has a strong footing in the Ashanti Region.
The Ashanti Region is regarded as the stronghold of the NPP but the recent Party Affiliations Survey done by Global InfoAnalytics reveals that the support base of the party in the region which stood at 56% in November 2024 has declined to 37% just two months after the party lost the general elections.
Comparatively, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has seen astronomical rise in its voters from 17% to 38% within the same period (November 2024 to January 2025).
Global InfoAnalytics gained wide popularity after it correctly predicted the outcome of Ghana’s general presidential and parliamentary elections in 2024.
Giving more information about the polls on Global InfoAnalytics’ official page on X, the institute wrote ‘NPP in trouble in the Ashanti region as a special poll conducted in the region shows the party is in decline.
The poll shows that voters who openly associate themselves with NPP which stood at 56% in November 2024 has declined to 37%, two months after the party lost the general election in a landslide, representing drop of 19 percentage point.
NDC on the other hand, has seen astronomical rise in its voters from 17% to 38% according the poll, a rise of 21 percentage point’.
The NPP itself has launched an official probe into the party’s humiliating defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Global InfoAnalytics’ report may serve as a guide for the re-organisation of the NPP if the party finds it to be a relevant material.
