Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, leader of the NDC caucus in parliament has expressed his reservations about plans by the outgoing NPP government to procure ships for the Ghana Navy at an estimated cost of one hundred and forty million euros (€140 million).
Dr Forson labelled the last minute transaction plan as unnecessary and way to worsen the financial plight of the country.
He indicated that the acquisition of the ships would impose an undue financial burden on the incoming government(NDC), and potentially add $350 million to Ghana’s debt stock.
Dr. Forson said the NDC caucus would do all it can to block the outgoing NPP government from securing tax waivers or loans tied to the transaction.
He was speaking on the floor of parliament on Monday, December 16,2024. Watch video here.SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
