The aspiring Assembly member of the Adukrom Nima Electoral Area in the Ashanti Region, Nana Adabor Ibrahim Isaah Ampim (alias Aponkye) lost miserably in the just ended District Level Elections.
Honorable Aponkye polled only 9% (234) of the total votes cast. In other words, Aponkye came last of the four candidates who contested the election.
The candidate and his supporters, without verifying jumped unto motorbikes and started jubilating on the street hours before the Electoral Commission officially declared poll results for the entire Adukrom Nima Electoral Area.
Honorable Aponkye claimed victory when results from only one polling station which happens to be his stronghold showed he was in a ‘comfortable lead’.
The honorable member campaigned on 7 outrageous promises which included:
1.One house, one biogas toilet
2.Free dustbin for all on the street
3.Free job for the boys every day 20 Cedis for salary
4.Free canopy and chairs for every ceremony
5.Free canteen for police station
6.Free breakfast for the community
7.Free Makaranta Education
8.Free Aboboyaa for sanitation
It has been observed that Ghanaians actually do not vote on issues.
Honorable Aponkye is himself surprised that the electorate did not vote for him despite his lavish campaign promises.
Kasatintin.com has learnt that the honorable member has since flatly blamed his electoral defeat on the doing of the witches in his family.
Other reports suggest that Aponkye may soon head to the Supreme Court to challenge the results of the polls.
