Michael Ahiago, a retired pastor believed to be in his early 70s has committed suicide by hanging at Akatsi in the Volta Region.
Ahiago retired from active service at MafiKumase Branch of the New Covenant Apostolic Church in 2021.
The deceased was found hanging from a mango tree in front of his house on Wednesday at about 5.30am.
The widow, Mrs Beatrice Ahiago said his late husband showed no sign of depression.
‘I got up this dawn to prepare porridge for sale without having any knowledge of my husband’s departure from home until we were told of the incident’, she mourned.
Neighours generally do not suspect any foul play in the late pastor’s death.
Commenting on his demise, the Assembly Member for the Area said ‘We saw some notes by the deceased, but the police will do their work regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident’.
Michael Ahiago is survived by five children. His body has been deposited at the St Paul’s Hospital Morgue. Police have requested further examination to assist them in their investigations. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
