39-year-old pastor in Mozambique has died on Wednesday after attempting to fast for 40 days, the same way Jesus Christ is said to have done it in the desert as described in the Gospel of Matthew.
Pastor Francisco Barajah, founder of the Santa Trindade Evangelical Church became very weak after staying 25 days without food and water.
Pastor Barajah, who is also a French teacher lost weight and could not walk. He was rushed to a hospital in the city of Beira in critical condition at the insistence of his relatives and followers.
He was diagnosed with acute anaemia and failure of his digestive organs. Doctors could not save him.
