The Ghana Police Service has apprehended the prime suspect linked to the robbery and murder of mobile money (MoMo) vendors in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
The suspect, Martin Amoah, also known as ‘Baba Macho’ was arrested from his hideout in Kpone in the Greater Accra Region.
Police confirmed his arrest on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
In recent times, the Ashanti Region has seen a rise in violent robberies targeting MoMo vendors. Three sales attendants have been killed in separate incidents—two involving firearms.
The arrest of Baba Macho brings the total number of suspects detained in connection with the disturbing attacks on MoMo vendors to four.
