Pope Francis will be laid to rest today, Saturday, April 26,2025.
The memorial service is being held in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. More than 200,000 people are expected to witness the final rites of the Catholic leader.
US President Donald Trump, his wife Melania as well as former US President Joe Biden (a devout Catholic) will attend the Pope’s funeral.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Prince William will also be present.
Other dignitaries expected at the funeral include Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, E.U. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a longtime friend of Pope Francis.
