Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Bernard Antwi Boasiako better known as Chairman Wontumi has been ordered to appear before the Kumasi Traditional Council at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, January 29, 2024.
The summon follows a derogatory remarks Chairman Wontumi reportedly made against the Asantehene about a fortnight ago during the vetting of parliamentary aspirants in Manhyia South.
Wontumi is claimed to have said that he has formed his own kingdom in the Ashanti Region and he is actually more powerful than Otumfuo, prompting Manhyia to summon him.
But Chairman Wontumi failed to show up at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, January 22, 2024.
The NPP sent a delegation to the Manhyia Palace on Monday and pleaded that the accused had taken ill. They requested two weeks for his recovery.
However, the traditional council furiously turned down the request stating that Wontumi had failed to present a medical report to validate his absence.
The Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwaatia passed a final comment and ordered that the Ashanti Regional NPP Chair appear before the traditional council Monday next week. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
