A medical doctor in Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has reportedly poisoned a colleague’s drinking water with HIV-infected blood.
The act is suspected to have been carried out following a disagreement between the two.
According to information, both doctors (names withheld) work in the same unit– Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of KBTH.
The medical doctor whose water was allegedly poisoned told the police that he was on a 24-hour duty with six other doctors at the Labour Ward One of the hospital.
He claimed that, at the end of the 24-hour shift, he returned to his consulting room and found a reddish substance in his water bottle.
The water in the bottle was clinically tested and it was proven that the substance was a clot of HIV-infected blood.
The Korle Bu Police is investigating the case, according to media reports.
