The studio and broadcasting equipment of Radio ATU has reportedly been burnt down by a fire outbreak on Tuesday, February 28.
The campus radio station which started operation in 2019 is situated within the Accra Technical University SRC complex.
The then SRC revealed that it invested GHC 149,860 in the set up of Radio ATU.
According to information published by ModernGana.com and seen by Kasatintin.com, one student who was taking a snack in the studio accidentally poured soft drink on the FM console and keyboard.
Some of the drinks leaked into the socket connecting the studio equipment. The said student attempted to turn off the socket but the fuse tripped and caused fire.
He allegedly decided to fight the fire alone using a fire extinguisher but the inferno kept spreading.
As things got out of hand, the unknown student fled the scene.
Students who were having their lecture in the SRC complex spotted the flame and alerted the campus security. Click HERE to watch video. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
