South African gospel singer, Funanani Mbedzi has been shot dead by her husband whiles she was engaged in worship in her church.
Police confirmed that, Mbedzi, who is a member of the award-winning gospel group, Worship House, was tragically murdered by her husband on Saturday, March 30, 2024 during church service.
Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that, the murder suspect, 54 entered the church in Makonde Shadani village, outside Thohoyandou, at about 6 in the evening while the congregation was engaged in worship and shot at his wife multiple times.
He then fled the scene after killing the 45-year-old gospel musician.
‘While the motive behind this appalling incident remains unclear, domestic violence cannot be ruled out’, Limpopo SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.
