Sex workers in Choma, Zambia have confirmed recording a surge in clients seeking their services, with some attributing the rise to the recent good harvest of maize in the area.
One of the prostitutes disclosed that ‘the increase in business had provided financial stability for some sex workers, allowing them to better support themselves and their families’.
She told Byta FM in a report sighted by Kasatintin.com that farmers from Choma and nearby districts were amongst their top clients.
But Chief Cooma’s representative, John Gandula have advised male farmers in rural areas against selling their harvest and spending the proceed on prostitutes.
He warned that engaging in such acts would deepen household poverty and contribute to the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
