Shatta Wale is likely to spend one more night in police cells today.
The self-acclaimed dancehall king was arrested by the police on Tuesday for allegedly fabricating a story which suggested he had been shot by notorious gunmen at East Legon on Monday.
Police source hinted that per the evidence available to them, the musician’s charges may be centred on ‘publication of false news, usurpation of a public officer…and attempts to cause fear and panic’.
Some lawyers fear he could be jailed for 5years if found guilty of the charges.
Social media earlier today was awashed with news that Shatta Wale had been granted bail.
In an interview on JoyNews on Wednesday afternoon, Acting Public Affairs Director, DSP Alexander Obeng indicated that the artiste is still in their custody with two others assisting them in investigations.
DSP Obeng said ‘the investigators are ensuring that the right procedures are followed so that nobody’s right is violated’.
It is quite obvious that Shatta Wale may not be granted bail today, Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
