Three suspects have reportedly been detained by the Kenyan Police for throwing shoes at President William Ruto during a political rally on Sunday.
Videos on social media show the footwear striking President Ruto’s left arm as he held it aloft while he was speaking on stage.
Government spokesperson, Isaac Mwaura condemned the Sunday incident, describing it as ‘shameful’ and also called for those behind it to be apprehended.
Kenyans have become helpless dealing with rising cost of living.
President Ruto was speaking about the government’s attempts to cut fertilizer costs as part of his administration’s reaction to economic dissatisfaction.
He had just asked his audience, ‘We have said we are reducing the price of fertilizer, true or false?’ when he had the footwear tossed at him.
