Sweden has taken the bold steps to ban the use of petrol and diesel-powered cars in key parts of the capital city, Stockholm by 2025.
Authorities say the Swedish capital will only allow electric vehicles on the roads to improve air quality and reduce traffic noise.
Lars Strömgren, Vice Mayor for Transport and Urban Environment of the City of Stockholm stated in a social media post on Tuesday that ‘Nowadays, the air in Stockholm causes babies to have lung conditions and the elderly to die prematurely. It is a completely unacceptable situation’.
