The Ghana Police Service have confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the alleged abduction of 28-year-old pregnant woman in Takoradi.
Josephine Panyin Mensah, the victim went missing after she stepped out for an early morning walk on the street.
Family claim Josephine was due for birth when she was allegedly captured by the kidnappers.
She was found alive on Tuesday, September 21,2021at Axim without her baby.
Reports sighted by Kasatintin.com said that Josephine Panyin Mensah went into force labour and lost the child during her encounter with the attackers.
Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah as well as the police have stated that their preliminary investigations show that Josephine was never pregnant.
The comments have triggered an uproar among some residents in Sekondi, where the victim lives.
They insist Josephine was pregnant before the horrific incident.
Earlier today, the police issued a statement to explain their position.
They suspect Josephine Panyin Mensah’s kidnapping, just like other similar incidents they have recently recorded in the region was made up to solicit for ransom.
According to the statement, the police are holding Josephine as a suspect for possible ‘self kidnapping’.
Three other persons have also been picked up for further questioning on possible conspiracy charges.
