The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has ordered the emergency recall of ballot papers intended for both the Eastern and Western Region. This follows an incident of a defaced ballot paper which was detected by the commission.
The EC will immediately reprint these ballot papers and distribute the new electoral materials to affected regions, the commission assured during a news conference on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Due to this, the EC has postponed the date for the special voting exercise in these regions from Monday to Thursday, December 5, 2024.
‘Some have posed the question… why would you reprint all the ballots when it’s only a single defaced… ballot paper that was taken out of the printing house? Our avowed intention is to ensure and guarantee the integrity of the 2024 election’, the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa clarified during the Sunday press briefing. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
