Wife of Communication Director at the seat of government, Jubilee House, Eugene Arhin has allegedly filed for divorce.
Eugene Arhin has stated in a Facebook post on Thursday that he has seen a purported divorce petition filed by his wife, Gloria Assan Arhin ‘which has been deliberately leaked all over social media obviously to achieve a certain effect. I have still not been served with these court processes, and, upon receipt, my lawyers will respond accordingly’.
According to the said leaked court document, Mrs Gloria Assan Arhin filed a divorce suit at the Matrimonial Division of the Accra High Court on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, citing adultery and abuse as reasons for leaving the marriage.
The petitioner, Mrs Arhin claimed that her husband (Respondent) sometimes spend the nights with other women including one Chantel Kudjawu, who once caused a Senior Minister in Akufo-Addo’s government to model in his pyjamas in a leaked video.
According to her, the Respondent presently has a child of about a year old with another woman.
She added that her husband has reduced her to a total stranger and hardly communicates or spends any time with her except to bicker and quarrel which has caused her to live in a state of constant emotional stress and anguish.
Mrs Arhin related that she and the Respondent were living peacefully until the day President Akufo-Addo appointed him to a position, Communication Director at the Jubilee house in 2016.
Mrs Arhin, a former banker recalled that in the early part of their marriage, 2012 they first stayed ‘in their rented apartment and subsequently moved in to live with petitioner’s (her) sister and then later to a rented place of their own within Accra’.
Mrs Arhin maintained that she was the higher earner in the family and also engaged in petty trading, selling of diapers to mobilise additional funds to support the maintenance and management of the home.
The Respondent at the time of the marriage served as a ‘mere’ Research Assistant at the Danquah Institute and an aide to then candidate Akufo-Addo.
But shortly after being appointed in government, the petitioner said her husband started behaving in very unusual ways toward her and the children ‘and continued on this path until the relationship between the parties deteriorated completely.’
Mrs Arhin is alleging her husband has warned her not to touch anything in the house that is his and also banned her from entering any of the landed properties acquired in the course of their marriage.
She is thus pleading with the court to order her husband to pay her the sum of GHS2 million as compensation and also give her 50% of every property they have acquired and developed within the last 4years they stayed together.
The parties have three children namely Kelsie Arhin, 6years, Kayla Arhin, 4years and Keeon Arhin, 1 year 10 months.
