An elderly couple from India have taken legal action against their 35-year-old son, Shrey Sagar and his wife, Shubhangi Sinha for their inability to give them a grandchild after marriage.
Shrey Sagar and his wife, 31 have been married for six years but have been unable to give birth.
Sagar’s parents, Sadhana and Sanjeev Prasad are miserably putting pressure on them to have a child.
In a lawsuit filed based on ‘mental harassment’, the Prasads stated that they spent about $257,000 raising their only son hence they equally deserve a grandchild.
Father said he spent all his savings on Shrey Sagar; sent him to the US for pilot training and also supported him financially when he lost his job in 2007.
He stressed that ‘I don’t have any money now. We have taken a loan from bank to build home. We’re troubled financially and personally’.
Their lawyer said ‘This case portrays the truth of society. We invest in our children, make them capable of working in good firms. Children owe their parents basic financial care. The parents have demanded either a grandchild within a year or compensation of $650,000’.
