Nigerian lecturer, Dr Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle has died in a hotel at Anyigba while reportedly having sexual affair with a 22-year-old female student.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Kasatintin.com gathered that Dr Ibikunle is a Senior Lecturer at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) while the lady, identified as Gloria Samuel is a Level 200 student at the Department of Social Studies Education of the institution.
The Kogi Police Command confirmed the incident on Friday and said the hotel manager reported that Gloria rushed to the reception of the hotel to alert the staff on duty that the lecturer had collapsed after their encounter.
The hotel management quickly informed the police, but the lecturer was taken to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor.
The 22-year-old PAAU student was arrested and taken to politice custody. She was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to assist with further investigations on the incident.
Rumours on campus suggest that, Dr Ibikunle, though married with children, was long involved in a sexual relation with the young female student before his sudden demise.
Other members of university community believe that the incident could be related to sex-for-grades.
