A 45-year-old South African man who attempted to take his own life in ex-lover’s neighbourhood has been rescued by residents.
The incident occurred on Monday, November 11, 2025 in Hilltop, KZN.
According to information, the man decided to end his life after he was rejected by his ex-lover and mother of his 12-year-old daughter.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) reported that the man arrived at the location earlier in the day to visit his 12-year-old child.
The child’s mother had gone to work at that time so she asked him to wait until she returned home to see him.
But he wasn’t satisfied with the response, thinking the woman was only giving an excuse to prevent him from getting closer to her.
The man, who was reportedly intoxicated then, walked into a nearby bush and attempted to hang himself on a tree using a piece of wire.
Members of the public who saw him rushed to the scene and managed to cut him down from the tree.
The man was not injured. He has since declined any medical support.
