Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu has revealed in a Facebook post that the report on August 6 Helicopter tragedy investigation will be presented to the National Security Council today, Monday, November 10,2025.
He also indicated that the details of the report will be made public at a media briefing on Tuesday, November 11,2025.
Background
The Ghana Armed Forces helicopter (Airforce Z-9) accident that killed Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Ghana’s Minister of Defense, occurred on August 6, 2025.
The crash happened in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region. It was speculated that then that, the helicopter crashed due to bad weather conditions.
Eight passengers were on board the military helicopter, including:
1.Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defense
2.Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation
3.Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
4.Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Minister for Food and Agriculture
5.Samuel Aboagye, former NDC parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East
The three crew members were: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
