President Nana Akufo-Addo has given a firm indication as to why you must never trust a politician, especially those African leaders who knock at your doors with juicy promises during political campaigns.
President Akufo-Addo has noted that even though he is aware Ghanaians are facing economic hardship, he is not to blame.
Prices of fuel, food and essential commodities have gone up significantly in recent times.
On top of this, government has made a proposal in its 2022 budget statement to place a 1.75% tax of the value of all electronic transactions.
The tax, dubbed E-levy covers mobile money payments, bank transfers, merchant payments, and inward remittances.
The originator of the transactions will bear the cost of the levy.
Ghanaians are feeling the heat. President Akufo-Addo appears to know this but he has absolved himself of any responsibility in that regard.
‘I admit that Ghanaians are going through difficult times; some people are trying to say that it is my fault, but you know that is not the case. Yet, they will continue to say it’, President Akufo-Addo stated this when he commissioned the party’s constituency office complex at Juaben in the Ashanti Region.
Government has mostly blamed the intensive economic challenges in the country on the Covid-19 pandemic.
