Some students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have raised concerns with the way the students representative council (SRC) is mismanaging their funds.
The students are requesting leadership to be disciplined and spend wisely.
It is alleged that the SRC has allocated 900 million cedis (old currency) for the construction of a shelter at a bus stop outside campus.
According to Voice of KNUST, a campus blog ‘The 2022/23 KNUST SRC has allocated an estimated amount of GH¢ 90,000.00 [ 900 million old currency] for the construction of a BUS SHELTER at AHINSAN’.
Leadership is also projected to spend 250 million cash to provide sanitary pads in female washrooms on campus.
Voice of KNUST reported that ‘In the 2022/2023 KNUST SRC Budget, an amount of GH¢ 25,000 [250 million old currency] has been allocated for the provision of sanitary pads in female washrooms in the faculties to save situations of emergency’.
