A police officer has killed his 28-year-old wife, Nonkululeko Mtshweni, at a birthday party in Barberton, Mpumalanga, South Africa.
The suspect, Constable Lucky Sandlile Maduna is 38 years old and he is currently in police custody.
According to investigations, Maduna stabbed Nonkululeko to death with a broken bottle during a heated argument between them at a birthday party they both attended on October 3,2023.
Reports said Manduna begun slapping his wife in the course of the altercation. He allegedly went to his car and returned with a bottle, which he used to stab Nonkululeko in the neck until she was motionless.
The suspect also used the bottle to severely stab Nonkululeko’s friend, Veronica Sithole in the face and neck when she tried to calm down the couple.
She is in a critical condition but receiving treatment at the hospital.
