A middle aged man, Kofi Yakubu is in trouble for painting his dog to look like a tiger in a half-backed plan to evade loan recovery teams in Kasoa, Central Region of Ghana.
According to reports, Kofi Yakubu has borrowed an undisclosed sum of money from different micro finance companies three years ago but has since refused to pay back the loan.
Signaling his unwillingness to pay off the debt, Yakubu released his ‘tiger’ dog whenever financial companies’ representatives visited his house to recover the loan.
Some Kasoa residents claim that Kofi Yakubu’s ‘tiger’ dog was a convincing decoy, sporting impressive stripes and a fearsome growl.
‘I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the ‘tiger’ standing guard in front of the house’, said a neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous. ‘ I thought it was a real tiger, and I was terrified. I couldn’t pass in front that house again, I changed my route. But now, we know, it was just a painted-up dog’.
Yakubu was eventually exposed when the owner of the shop he bought the paint from also started chasing him over an outstanding debt.
Information suggest that Yakubu is now on the run but he will likely face charges of deception and obstruction of justice when the police finally grab him from his hideout.
