A pregnant woman has died after eating a meal from a popular waakye joint at Oyibi Bush Canteen Junction in Accra. Five other people who ate from the same food joint have also reportedly passed away.
This is suspected to be a case of food poisoning which occurred at the food joint known by many as Yellow Sisi Special Waakye.
The media report that at least 40 people, including the food seller and some of her family members suffered stomach aches after they ate food prepared at the joint on Friday.
The victims are receiving treatment at Valley View Hospital, Oyibi Hospital, Dodowa Hospital and nearby facilities.
A year ago, popular Ivorian footballer Oussou Konan died in a similar way. Information suggested that Konan died from food poisoning while on a visit to his hometown where he spent the new year with his extended family [Click on this link to read more].
