Twitter is buzzing up with hot arguments and comments after President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed medical doctor, Dr Yaw Twerefour as CEO of Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency (MoFFA).
According to information, the President made the appointment in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 constitution and Section 100(1) of the Health Institutions and Facilities Act 2011 (Act 829).
Dr Yaw Twerefour has over ten years experience in the medical field and have served as the Medical Superintendent of Anyaa Polyclinic and as an external consultant to the National Health Insurance Authority.
Despite the appointment being backed by law, some netizens believe the new portfolio is just one of the ways to create ‘jobs for the boys’.
‘Minister of Mortuary and Funerals Affair ????’, one social media user pooh-poohed.
‘Senior Mortuaryman’, remarked another social media user.
Another netizen added ‘Where’s the headquarters located and does it mean we will be having an official headquarters of mortuaries? Without that this appointment is null and void. I will say again, Ghana doesn’t need IMF loan ????. They will squander it’.
