A male student of the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Maiduguri, Saleem Ibrahim has attacked a 21-year-old lady for rejecting his love.
Reports said Saleem had been pestering Hauwa Abatcha Ngala to accept his love proposal but she turned him down.
Hauwa is also a student in the same university but with the College of Nursing Sciences in Maiduguri.
Lovesick Saleem Ibrahim began to threaten Hauwa to either love him or suffer the most-gruesome consequences.
On Monday, February 26, 2024 at 8:30 pm, Saleem physically assaulted Hauwa Abatcha Ngala, hitting her hard twice with a club. She had injuries in her head, bled profusely and fainted.
The police arrested him following the incident. However, he was immediately released from police custody on the orders of some influential politicians.
Earlier, Saleem Ibrahim had warned Hauwa of the consequences of refusing to accept his love proposal. ‘I can even kill you, and nothing will happen’,he is claimed to have said.
After his release by the police, Saleem mocked Hauwa in a private message to her on Facebook saying: ‘I’m not the type that makes empty threats, anything I decide to do I will do it and nothing will happen. I swear with Allah, it is only the poor you can mess with and go scot free but not a person from an influential background like Saleem. It is only the poor that don’t possess worldly things that you can succeed to win a case with. If you mess up and succeed with others, I swear with Almighty God you will never succeed because we have the Money, the Security Agencies, Politicians, and Government Officials on our side.
