A police officer has been arrested over the murder of 26-year-old lady, Victoria Dapaah, popularly known as Maa Adwoa.
The suspect, Ahmed Twumasi, who is a police inspector is under investigation for allegedly firing multiple shots to kill Maa Adwoa at Adum-Kumasi around 10pm on Thursday, 20th April, 2023.
The deceased, a mother of one and believed to be in a serious relationship with Ahmed, was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ghana Police Service confirmed the news in a tweet on Sunday saying ‘The suspect, who has been on the run since the incident, was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region as a result of a special Police operation,which was launched following the shooting incident’.
‘The suspect is currently in Police custody and will be put before court to face justice’, the statement added.
Assemblyman for the area expressed shock about the incident and said ‘Such an incident has never happened here before. It was only once some police officers shot a criminal dead in the area. Aside that, nothing of this sort happens here’.
However, mother of the deceased, Adwoa Nyarko wants justice for her daughter.
She told Luv FM in an interview monitored by Kasatintin.com that ‘My child didn’t go anywhere. She was home and got a phone call, his brother asked him not to go and she said, ‘I’m not going far’. She stepped out for a few minutes and she was shot dead. My heart is breaking’. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
