Onua TV presenter, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, better known as Captain Smart was sent to court on Thursday.
The police have charged him with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
Captain Smart was arrested by state security at 11.00am in his home a week ago.
The television journalist who is known for speaking the hard truth on his show has been accused of making some unsavoury pronouncements in a video which have the tendency to threaten the peace and security of Ghana.
Ghana police a few hours ago issued a statement giving an update on Captain Smart’s arrest and what transpired in Circuit Court 7 when he appeared before it as follows:
‘The Police today, Thursday, December 9, 2021, arraigned Captain Smart at Circuit Court 7. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
The court admitted him to bail in the sum of Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵100,000.00) with one surety to be justified.
The case has been adjourned to January 11, 2022. Meanwhile, he is to report to the Police every Tuesday and Friday’.
