A private citizen, Eric Dumenu Akatsi has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) over the controversial dollar bill-splashing incident involving the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Goldbod Sammy Gyamfi and Nana Agradaa, a popular spiritual figure.
Akatsi suspects financial misconduct and wants CHRAJ to investigate the allegations against Sammy Gyamfi.
A few days ago, the Goldbod CEO was captured in a viral video handing out dollar bills to Nana Agradaa in his luxury Range Rover.
According to Adomonline.com, ‘Mr. Akatsi argued that the overt display of wealth, combined with what he claims are significant sums in Mr. Gyamfi’s Consolidated Bank Ghana accounts, raises red flags about potential corruption.
‘…His petition calls for a full-scale probe into the source of the alleged large sums in Mr. Gyamfi’s bank accounts’.
Mr. Akatsi maintained that his actions are not politically motivated but stem from a civic duty to demand accountability based on Article 41 of the 1992 Constitution, which enjoins citizens to report suspected misconduct and promote the public good.
‘Let me put on record that I have nothing against Sammy. I am only exercising my right as a citizen by calling on institutions of state to investigate an issue of public interest’, he said.
Mr Akatsi is confident that CHRAJ will handle the matter impartially and with urgency.
